SiS official nutrition partner Team HTC-Columbia

Press Release

SCIENCE IN SPORT TO SUPPLY ENERGY PRODUCTS TO TEAM COLUMBIA-HTC
Science in Sport has been appointed by UCI Pro Tour Team HTC-Columbia to be an official nutrition partner for the 2010 season.
SiS will provide its range of energy, hydration and recovery products – which include the award-winning isotonic energy gel Go Gel, energy drinks GO, PSP22 as well as recovery drink Rego – to HTC-Columbia's team roster which includes Briton Mark Cavendish.
Team Columbia-HTC won more races than any other team in 2009 clocking up 86 victories with star rider Mark Cavendish responsible for 23 of those victories, six of which came at the Tour de France – a record feat for a British rider.
Effective sports nutrition plays an integral role in professional cycling – particularly in multi-stage races such as the Grand Tours – by helping to keep athletes energised and hydrated but also aiding recovery.
Team HTC-Columbia owner Bob Stapleton said: “Sports nutrition is of paramount importance to the performance of our Team. We provide our athletes with the best products on the market and the products from Science in Sport fit our specific requirements.. We're looking forward to working closely with them throughout 2010.”
Blackburn-based Science in Sport, which recently announced its sponsorship of world track and Olympic champion Sir Chris Hoy, has a long standing association with elite cycling with 1992 Olympic gold medal winner Chris Boardman helping to inspire its first recovery product, Rego.
SiS operates its own in-house manufacturing facility in Lancashire, which is ISO 9001:2000 certified for product design, development, manufacturing and marketing. All Science in Sport products are drug-free.
Following its success within cycling, SiS' products are now widely used by top athletes across a variety of sports and it is the official nutrition supplier to GB Rowing and British Sailing – two of Britain's most successful gold medal-winning teams in Beijing.
Peter Slater from Science in Sport, said: “Team HTC-Columbia is widely recognised as one of the best pro-Tour teams on the circuit so it was an honour to be approached to become the official sports nutrition supplier to the team. We have worked with many top teams and riders in the world over the last 10 years and fuelled multiple victories in all the Grand Tours and are hopeful this partnership will help produce even more success.
“It's our policy to work closely with all our athletes and their support network to help improve performance and further develop products. It will be interesting and exciting working alongside the likes of Mark Cavendish to see if it's possible to make him go even faster and win more races.”
